Advice

As with photography, the question you first need to ask yourself is how much effort you are willing to put into your film making? (Which might correlate with The Most Important Question of Your Life.) How much time are you willing to spend reading about videography, actually filming, organizing massive amounts of data, editing your footage and eventually sharing your work?

I would recommend to start with the basics of photography and only then go to film, as the activity can easily be 10X more demanding with no limit for upside. But as with everything, start small, taking one step at a time.

My favorite source of knowledge is the YouTube channel DSLRguide by Simon Cade followed by the behind the scenes of Devin Graham. If you are into action sports you might also enjoy this one.

If you want to get really serious, you have to follow Taran Van Hemert on YouTube and especially check this and this video out.
